Key Facts

◆ Former farm in Surlingham purchased in 1976 by Sangharakshita and Vajrakumara; established as a retreat centre in July 1976.
◆ The Order Library was moved here from Aryatara (Purley) in 1980 and kept in the room below Sangharakshita's study.
◆ The Padmaloka complex eventually comprised two communities — a retreat community and an Order Office community — with over twenty men from three countries.
◆ 'Norfolk, London, and North Wales are the three points of the triangle of my life in Britain,' Sangharakshita wrote.
